    So long OEM

Posted by Jim Rice on 17th Aug 2014

I had the Brembo package on my 2011GT which was better than a stock GT but still had some short comings It had the nose dive up when accelerating and nose dive when braking hard. It also had an annoying bounce on certain road conditions. The cornering was fairly acceptable. I improved the cornering slightly by installing a 55d spring kit which lowered the rear by 1/2 inch but did not change the ride as advertised. Now after installing Bilsteins with Ford racing P springs on all four corners I can't believe the improvement. The car is more planted and the bounce is gone. No nose dive. I noticed after lowering the LCA's were no longer level with the ground and were slightly pointing upward toward the axle. I was considering relocation brackets but not sure they are needed. I did several very hard 7k shifts 1st through 3rd and have way better traction. Cornering was also greatly improved. I do feel the road surface more but in a good way. On the expressways The ride is so much better. Next step is for an alignment and to see if a pan hard bar is needed. I am very satisfied and feel these really are great for a street car. I know they are a little more money but the quality shows through. No hassle adjusting is a plus for a non track car. . .
